Books and Blood Ink
By Jemylover and AliceCherri
It was a glorious day in Ponyville, where all the ponies were at play and work. The work ponies were finishing lunch in a lovely afternoon, and the small school ponies were at recess, enjoying the sunny day. It was a daily routine in Ponyville, and nothing seemed out of place. The local Ponyville Library, however, looked like a darker place than before. The colors weren't as bright as they used to be, but instead with a darker hue. Ponies say it's because the library tree is growing old, but some school ponies started a rumor saying it got that way ever since a particular day.
Inside the library was Spike the dragon, putting away books into the right shelves. His morning routine was ruined when Twilight gave him a list of special chores. It was terribly long for a baby dragon to do all by himself. Regardless, he agreed to do it anyways. While Spike was putting the books away, somepony knocked on the door, and then a thud was heard outside. "Special delivery for Twilight Sparkle!" a muffled voice called.
Spike chuckled a bit to himself, and walked towards the door. When he opened the door, he saw Ditzy Doo balancing a package on her head. When she saw Spike, she stopped and dropped the package, smiling embarrassingly. "Uh, these boxes are from Manehatten's library!" she happily said, grabbing a clipboard from her saddlebag.
Ditzy handed the clipboard to Spike with her mouth, smiling wide as she did. Spike grabbed a near by quill inside the library door, and signed for the package. He helped Ditzy by putting the clipboard in her saddle bag for her. "Thank you and have a muffin- I mean, a great day!" she said, and with that she flew off.
Spike grabbed the package and went inside the library, setting the package behind a closet. He climbed up the ladder, and continued his routine. He came across two books, with an interesting label that looked very familiar. He opened one of the books, just to skim through it and find out why it looked so familiar. He grabbed the other book, still holding the previous one he looked at. He felt an itch in his nose, and then a pressure coming. Ahh-Ahh! CHOO!
Flames burned the two book covers, completely turning them into ashes. Spike stumbled backwards, causing the ladder to fall along with him. Once Spike fell down with the ladder below him, a loud crash of glass was heard from the closet followed by another, and another. Books were falling off their shelves, almost hitting Spike. As soon as everything sounded quiet, he dared himself to open his eyes, to see what mess he caused. He still had the burnt books in his hands, and saw a black, bluish liquid seeping out of the closet door. He dropped the books and quickly walked towards the closet. The strong stench of ink made it self known, and when Spike opened the closet, ink was splattered everywhere. He looked at the shelves inside the closet and found all the ink was now gone.
"Spike! I heard a noise down there. Is everything alright?" Twilight called from her bedroom. He sensed her hooves moving toward her bedroom door, and immediately followed with, "Yup! Just tripped! I'm fine though, so don't come down here and worry!"
Of course, Twilight didn't listen and trotted down the stairs anyways. Spike panicked, and lifted the ladder back to where it was. At least one thing was in its place. Before Spike could turn around, he heard a surprised gasp behind him. He looked, to see Twilight's reaction on the mess. Right on cue, the closet door creaked opened by itself, to reveal the splattered ink. Twilight's mouth was gaped and her pupils were shrunk. Her eyes darted around, looking everywhere.
"S-Spike! Wh-what have you done?!" Twilight exclaimed. Spike froze into place, and tried to find his voice. Twilight didn't wait for an answer at all, and trotted in front of the burnt books. It was quiet for a moment, almost peaceful. Spike held his tail, thinking how he could have fixed this. He knew his sneezes were hard to control sometimes, and he knew how to be extremely cautious when it came to that. It was just his second time burning books, and maybe he wouldn't be punished that much.
All of a sudden, Twilight screamed as loud as she could, and finished with a cry. Spike shook as he heard her, fearing what was to come. Maybe he would be punished.
"T-Twi?" Spike gulped.
Twilight took a moment before speaking. "I-I can't believe it
you burnt these books. They were
given to me
personally
by the princess," Twilight tried her best to speak normally, but found it difficult. "She told me t-to take great care of them
especially the book covers. They were the only copies in Equestria. They
they were from the Royal Library in Canterlot."
Spike felt even worse than before, and wished to go back in time to stop himself from making this mess. He didn't speak; he didn't want to speak. Why would he, when he hurt one of the ponies he cared about. He stayed quiet, and not a peep was heard from him.
"The ink
they were
gonna supply us for a year
." Twilight continued, with a gloomy expression. Spike started to breathe fast, feeling choked up with tears in his eyes. He quickly blinked those away.
Twilight looked worried, a little bit too worried at that. Her mane started to look out of place, and so did her tail. She gazed at the charred books once again, getting a good look at them. Twilight twitched one of her ears, and started to chuckle. Spike was caught off guard by this, as he watched Twilight's chuckle turning into a laugh.
Twilight turned to Spike, smiling wide enough to show all of her teeth. "Don't worry about it Spike! I'll take care of it, so everything's gonna be juuuust dandy! Now, why don't you go finish up those chores like a GREAT number one assistant?"
Twilight's ear twitched as she watched Spike take a step back. "A-are you sure Twi? I mean, you don't have to do this, I can take care of the mess myself and-"
"Nope!" Twilight interrupted, "You have to go and deliver those books we got in the mail today! You know those ponies who wanted the books here in Ponyville? So, go on and deliver those BOOKS that the PONIES wanted." Twilight used her magic to grab the box that was placed behind the messy closet, and gave it to Spike immediately.
Spike knew this stage, but he didn't know how to get her out of it. Last time she was in this stage, it was about her tardiness with a letter and that was simple to resolve. This problem, however, seemed difficult since the books seemed irreplaceable. Spike held his grip with the box filled with books, and looked a little panicked when Twilight cracked another one of her smiles at him. Spike didn't want to go; he wanted to help Twilight instead. "What are you waiting for? Go!"
Spike had no choice but to do so. Twilight opened the door for him, and Spike slowly walked out of the library with the box. Twilight closed the door as soon as he left, and looked around the library.
"I know just how to fix this," Twilight said, twitching her right eye.
Outside of the library was Pinkamena Diane Pie, trotting around in a zig zag like manner, as if she waited for something to happen. Ever since Twilight's incident with her tardiness of her friendship letter, Pinkamena has grown more attracted to Twilight. She was secretly following her the past week, without Twilight noticing her. When she saw the moment where Spike left the library, she knew this was her chance to spend time with Twilight alone.
Pinkamena hurried to the front of the library door and didn't bother to knock. She allowed herself in the library, looking for the certain lavender pony. She saw the closet with splattered ink all over the area around it. She saw the books scattered around the room, even some books covered in the spilt ink. She closed the door with her hoof, making a loud noise. She heard hoof steps coming toward the entrance. Pinkamena was delighted to hear that sound, since she knew who that was.
Twilight came into the room, eyes dilated and her smile wide. "Heeey there Pinkie! You know, you're the pony I just wanted to see! Can you, a GREAT and WONDERFUL friend, do me, another FANTASTIC friend, a favor?" Pinkamena blinked before smiling creepily. She knew this was the type of Twilight she liked being around with. She liked the normal Twilight too, but something about this one was unique.
"Sure! I'd do anything for my," Pinkamena zoomed close to Twilight, "best friend! What do you need?"
Twilight twitched her body, now looking stressed. She still had those important books in her mind, thinking about what Celestia told her about taking good care of them. Oh, how she failed. She then remembered why she needed Pinkamena, and smiled.
"Wellll, you see, two books were given to me by the princess when I started being her student. She knew I was R-RESBONSIBLE, and gave me her only copies of all of Equestria to me. Today the book covers that she TOLD me to TAKE GREAT care of are now
now
d-d-destroyed," Twilight twitched while saying the last word, shaking her body. Pinkamena had a feeling that she would know how to fix Twilight's little problem, without Twilight telling her. Pinkamena thought for a moment, saddened that one of her best friends is upset. "What kind of books were they, Twilight?"
"O-one of the books dealt with magic for advanced little unicorns that were quite skilled. Like myself when I was a filly. The other however, deals with the night sky, and what happens during that time. Celestia GAVE that to me, because
it w-was the most accurate
."
Twilight looked down, in disappointment, her tail twitching a couple of times. Pinkamena began thinking, placing her hoof on her chin. "I think I know how to fix this!"
Pinkamena ran out of the library, looking around in every direction of Ponyville. She looked at everypony there, mostly looking at their cutie marks. She noticed Spike dragging an empty box towards a recycle can. When he dropped the box, he took out a list and sighed. Pinkamena wondered what kind of things he had to do for Twilight.
Pinkamena started to wander around Ponyville, still looking at the different cutie marks that stood out. Ponies were talking, and laughing, hardly noticing Pinkamena. Their chatter started to pick up, when a sudden fanfare was heard. Everypony gathered by a familiar stage, including Pinkamena. A lot ponies recognized this stage, and left the scene. About ten ponies, including Pinkamena, stayed and watched. With no effects what so ever, The Great and Powerful Trixie appeared on stage, smiling graciously. She walked in the center of the stage, looking at the low amount of audience.
Trixie sighed at the memory when she first came to Ponyville. The residents no longer trusted her probably. She remembered Twilight Sparkle as well, and how she showed her up. Trixie came back to Ponyville to regain her reputation. She came back, knowing a few tricks that she has been practicing, just to show that she knows more magic, and that she changed her ways. "Hello there!" she said, raising her hoof in the air. "As most of you might recall, I made an appearance a year ago here in Ponyville. I was The Great and Powerful Trixie, and as of now, I still am."
"I came back today, to show you all once again what my skills can do. The Great and Powerful Trixie has new tricks to show, but any requests on what magic you would all like to see before I start?" Trixie beamed, looking at the audience. Pinkamena blinked before realizing what she was supposed to be doing. She was taking a good look again at everyone's cutie marks. Then, she saw Trixie's. Pinkamena smiled creepily, coming up with a plan.
A pony in the audience raised his hoof in uncertainty.
"Yes?" Trixie called on him.
"W-well, how about Princess Luna? Princess Celestia isn't letting anypony see her, so I say nay! We should be allowed to see her!" he asked, hoping no pony would disagree with him. The other ponies started to murmur about it, mostly agreeing.
"Princess L-Luna? Are you sure you don't want Celestia instead?" she asked, hoping for the ponies to change their mind.
"No! We want Princess Luna!"
Trixie gulped, nodded her head, and took off her hat. "Watch then! As The Great and Powerful Trixie will show you all what you desire! Princess Luna!" Trixie used her magic to highlight an empty space next to her. She closed her eyes, concentrating on Princess Luna appearing. Everypony knew that magic like this was quite advanced, and could possibly take years to master. Trixie had no choice but to show them all what she could do. This was her only chance. All of a sudden a flash of light appeared where Trixie was pointing her magic to.
Everypony was covering their eyes to avoid being blinded. Once the flash dimmed they looked over to the stage to see nothing, but a devastated Trixie.
The ponies booed Trixie, upset with her failure of bringing Princess Luna. The audience started to leave the scene, all except Pinkamena. She just sat there, blinking, expressionless. Trixie felt like crying, after all this time of practicing. She didn't notice Pinkamena at all, and trotted backstage.
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she looked down at the floor. Her mind raced with thoughts of what could've gone wrong and why she failed. Maybe the pony who asked her to do make Luna appear knew that magic like that was too advanced. Maybe he just planned to see her fail. Before Trixie could start packing her things and leave Ponyville once and for all, a voice was heard next to her.
"Ahh! W-where am I? Sister?" the voice said, sounding weak. Trixie blinked her tears off, staring in awe when she turned her head to what she thought she heard. It was Princess Luna. Trixie did an impossible magic spell that some would consider difficult. Trixie smiled, ran back on stage to see if there were anypony left to show Princess Luna to. There was Pinkamena, smiling at Trixie. Trixie had no choice but to show Pinkamena her success, so she brought out Luna with her hoof. "Look! It is Princess Luna! Goddess of the Night!"
Luna was shaking, still not used to the new environment she was in. She looked at Pinkamena, who continued to smile. "I-I want to go
back with my sister
." Luna whispered to herself. Trixie, stayed a distance away from the princess, a little frightened that she used to be Nightmare Moon. Still, she was weak and no longer the pony she used to be.
Pinkamena trotted towards the stage, not losing eye contact with either of their cutie marks. Everything was going to go well, since she knew what she needed to do.
It was almost sundown in Ponyville, and now most of the ponies were finishing up work, and packing their things to get home. No pony noticed Trixie bringing back Princess Luna at all, or that Princess Luna was standing there, afraid. Pinkamena clapped her hooves together, smiling wide as she did. Trixie bowed down, satisfied with her praise. "Thank you, thank you!"
"You know," Pinkamena said, "it's great that you're here! You should probably touch up on your magic though. They're some books over at the library that could help you out. What do you say?"
Trixie looked at Pinkamena, unsure. "It could help me? What do you mean by that? I'm already great-"
"Oh, but you could be the best! How do you think Celestia so awesome with her magic skills? She reads those books over at the library!"
Trixie sighed and nodded. She dropped herself down from the stage, facing Pinkamena. Pinkamena averted her eyes to Luna, giving her a look to join them. Luna was surprised on how she obeyed Pinkamena so well.
"I'll take this as a yes! Come on, there is no time to spare!"
Pinkamena lead the two towards the library. The tree was even darker than before Pinkamena left. Trixie narrowed her eyes at the tree, remembering if it looked brighter before. Princess Luna's thoughts were scattered around her mind; she couldn't think clearly. Why was she following them anyways?
They entered the library, with Pinkamena leading the way. The library was even messier, with more books on the floor, and ink all around the walls of the library. Luna looked around, horrified of the condition the library was in.
"I think I should be leaving. My sister would be worried if I wasn't home-"
Pinkamena interrupted Luna's sentence, laughing manically. "TWILIGHT!" she screamed. Twilight ran into the entrance of the library, with dried up ink on her muzzle and body. Twilight's horn was now glowing, indicating that she was using her magic. Her magic was spread around the whole entire library, making a barrier around it. Luna tried using her own magic to unlock it, poking Trixie with her hoof to help her. Twilight continued gripping the barrier, trying to make it strong.
Pinkamena quickly ran to a yellow statue of a horse's head. She instantly gripped it with her hooves, and threw it at Trixie's head. Trixie stopped her magic, and fell to the ground unconscious. Luna screamed, feeling weak with her magic. Twilight's magic was too much for Luna to handle, making her body fragile. Luna's eyes were closing, and her magic was stopping. Before Princess Luna knew it, she fell down to the ground, next to Trixie, knocked out cold. The last thing she heard was the hysterical laughter of Pinkamena and Twilight.
Trixie screamed in agony once she regained consciousness. She opened her eyes, seeing a bloody Pinkamena with a hacksaw and a horn. Her horn.
"Oh, I hope you don't mind," Pinkamena stated, "I went in and started already. I love hacking off horns!" Trixie started to pant hysterically when seeing her horn. She was laid on the ground, with braces holding her front and back hooves apart. Trixie looked at Pinkamena's head, seeing a cracked skull with a dark blue horn. It looked very familiar. Pinkamena noticed Trixie staring, which made her giggle.
"I see you like my little accessory! Me and Twilight decided to start with royalty first. Princess Luna was a fun one to do. Too bad you were asleep the whole entire time." Pinkamena grabbed a scalpel, bringing Trixie's attention to it. Trixie started to breathe hysterically when Pinkamena started to get close to her right flank. She tried to pull away, but no matter how hard she tried, the braces held her tight.
Trixie felt a burning pain on the right side of her flank. She screamed in agony, feeling the sharp knife peel off her flesh. Trixie decided to avoid looking the direction Pinkamena was cutting, and looked the other way.
She saw Twilight with a jar in her mouth that had her cutie mark painted on it. Twilight was covered in a massive amount of blood. She smiled when she saw Trixie staring at her.
"W-why are you d-doing this?! D-do hate Luna and I that much?!" Trixie sobbed. Twilight twitched her right ear, and dropped the jar, opening it up with her hoof. "Of course I don't hate you nor Princess Luna! It's just that your cutie mark has to deal with these BOOKS that were destroyed earlier today. Y'know the BOOK COVERS. It was Pinkie's idea to use it from your skin and cutie mark."
Twilight then used her magic to levitate the blood pouring out of Trixie's right flank into the jar. Trixie was light headed when seeing her own blood in front of her. Pinkamena finished cutting the right cutie mark, smiling as she showed Trixie the sliced skin. Trixie began to sob even harder, her vision blurred with tears. Pinkamena passed the scalpel to Twilight, while she grabbed a butcher's knife. Twilight tightly gripped the scalpel and started to cut up Trixie's left cutie mark on her flank, while Pinkamena was about to slice her torso vertically.
"Now stay still Trix, we don't want to make a bigger mess," Pinkamena laughed.
"No-NO NO! PLEASE!"
Pinkamena placed the knife down on Trixie's chest and then pressed hard. Trixie's mouth was spilling out blood, making a gurgling scream. The sharp knife that was piercing through her skin was now making its way down Trixie's body. The flaps of the skin opened, and her organs were now visible. Twilight finished cutting up Trixie's left cutie mark, and placed it next to her. She used her magic once more to levitate the blood into the jar.
Pinkamena grabbed a bucket and started to look around Trixie's organs. She grabbed her huge intestines, and separated it from her body. She continued to do this with other organs and placed it in the bucket. Trixie slowly started to die from blood loss, feeling cold and fragile. Pinkamena smiled when she saw Trixie's ribcage and spine. With no flair, she gripped the spine with her forehooves and started to pull it out. Trixie gave a feeble scream; she had no energy to scream loud. Pinkamena pulled harder and harder, to no use.
"Ugh! Twilight, can you help me out?" Pinkamena asked, now standing on her backhooves. Twilight used her magic to grab the spine, and pull it out Pinkamena's direction. Trixie's scream was now cut. Pinkamena fell on the ground on her back, with the end of the spine in her mouth. She popped it out, and saw that the spine was attached to Trixie's skull, who was now dead.
Pinkamena grabbed her hacksaw and disconnected the spine and skull. Twilight carefully, once again, levitated the blood from Trixie, into the jar. It was done. Trixie and Princess Luna were killed, and they had their blood, bones, and skin. Twilight grabbed the jar that was filled with blood and placed it on a table.
The whole entire time they were in Twilight's basement, where her laboratory was. Twilight faced Pinkamena, and blushed. "I-I had fun," Twilight smiled.
"Me too..." Pinkamena smiled bashfully.
"Hey Pinkie?"
"Yeah?"
"I think I love you
."
This made Pinkamena blush insanely. Her smile was bright and she got walked up to Twilight quickly and kissed her.
After Twilight broke the kiss, she smiled at Pinkamena.
"Let's make the books together," she giggled.
